Collated, complete.The Society of Writers to His Majesty's Signet was a private society of Scottish solicitors, which took shape in 1594 under Sir Richard Cockburn of Clerkington (1565–1627), who was Lord Privy Seal of Scotland during the reign of James VI. This society was part of the College of Justice. This work contains a lengthy introduction; a history of the society by the Scottish historian Robert Kerr Hannay (1867-1940); a list of members of the society from its beginnings to the publication of this volume; a list of office-bearers; an abstract of the minutes of the society from 1888 to 1935; and appendixes and an index. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, with just a little fading to the spine and light shelf wear to the rear board. Hinges have been smartly reinforced to the end papers, but the front hinge is still slightly strained, as can be seen to the first blank page. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
